Innovations in Motion – IAA Transportation 2022

The IAA Transportation 2022, which took place in Hanover from September 20 to 25, marked a significant expansion of the previous IAA Commercial Vehicles event. Under the inspiring motto „People and Goods on the Move“, the trade fair not only offered insights into vehicle innovations, but also presented a broader range of topics and exhibitors that came together under the new name IAA Transportation.

IAA Mobilitython 2022: an integral part of the event

Embedded in the broad spectrum of the IAA Transportation, the IAA.prototype.club 2022 was a central component. Here, innovative minds competed in a software developer contest to present solutions to the challenges facing the industry. At the IAA.prototype.club 2022, there were three exciting challenges and we also hosted the I/O Mobility Tech Forum, including a panel discussion, and the official VDA & IAA Startup Night.

DLR challenge 

– Image recognition software

Improvement of image recognition for the detection of vehicles for the Lower Saxony test field, in particular along the A39. For this purpose, image recognition software for real-time detection of vehicles is to be adapted or developed. The image recognition software should precisely recognise and localise the detected objects.

Enpulse challenge

– Data-based business models

Develop innovative data-based business models in the mobility context, based on the Switchboard API (PV forecast, green power index, Mercedes charging data) or with other data.

Die Autobahn challenge 

– Analysis of vehicle data for forecasts

If geolocation and vehicle data are known in real time (e.g. floating car data from toll OBUs, tachography, etc.), can e.g. forecast for traffic jam or road conditions be made even more accurately if several vehicles brake or suddenly switch on the windshield wiper at the same time in the same place?

The winners, ANavS GmbH (DLR), RiDERgy (Enpulse) and Contiamo (Die Autobahn), stood out for their pioneering solutions that can shape the future of mobility.

IAA Transportation - an innovation platform for the future of mobility

The IAA Transportation 2022 exceeded all expectations and established itself not only as a showcase for vehicle innovations, but also as a discussion forum for the industry’s key topics. With an expanded focus on logistics, transport and digitalization, the event sent a clear signal for the future direction of the mobility industry. As a bridge builder between tradition and innovation, the IAA Transportation gives the future of mobility a new face.
