Challenges

DRIVER’S VITAL & MOOD DETECTION

Daimler Truck Holding AG (“Daimler Truck”) is one of the largest commercial vehicle manufacturers in the world, with over 40 main locations and more than 100,000 employees around the globe. Take this once in a lifetime opportunity to present your cutting-edge solutions to the industry experts.

Health wearables are upcoming as personal gadgets. In addition, driver facing cameras will be mandatory according to the GSR (General Safety Regulations) in Europe. This information could be used to enhance road safety.

Goal
The goal is to use todays or future health wearables (watches or others) and driver cam data to assess the medical condition and mood of the driver. Depending on the assessment, the vehicle shall interact with the truck and the driver himself:

  • Time for a break suggestion
  • Reduce set speed and set distance
  • Initiate emergency stop
  • And more

Task
The challenge is to design a robust algorithm which can prevent accidents by interacting with the truck. The algorithm should be compliant with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).

Input DT: GSR camera description (resolution and position in cabin)

Output: Human medical and mood assessment algorithm with a truck API. This API describes the interaction of the designed algorithm with the truck.
