What comes after digital services? At IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026, Diconium joined us on the IAA.prototype.club Stage to share new insights from its DicoDecode research — and to demonstrate what the next generation of AI-based fleet operations could look like.

From Digital Services to Agentic Operations.

Helmut Stadler, Jonas Nietschke and Ines Tochatschek brought together market research, strategic insights and a concrete prototype to show how digital services are changing competition in the truck industry — and what could come next.

And one number from their presentation stood out immediately:

75.3% would switch truck manufacturer for better digital services

Digital services are no longer just an add-on to the vehicle.

According to Diconium’s latest DicoDecode research, 75.3% of surveyed customers would switch truck manufacturers for more attractive digital solutions.

That is a strong signal for an industry in which purchasing decisions have traditionally been dominated by factors such as vehicle performance, reliability, total cost of ownership and service networks.

Today, the digital ecosystem around the vehicle is part of that decision as well.

Diconium has been analyzing this market since 2023.

Its latest research covers:

  • 144 providers analyzed
  • 900+ digital services compared
  • 5 countries
  • around 900 experts interviewed

The aim: creating transparency in an increasingly complex digital service landscape.

From digital services to the next step

But the Diconium session at IAA.prototype.club did not stop at market analysis.

The central question was:

What happens when AI moves from assisting users to actively supporting and automating operational decisions?

This is where agentic operations come in.

On stage, Diconium demonstrated an agentic fleet management prototype and discussed how AI agents could increasingly interact with data and systems across fleet operations.

Future systems could increasingly coordinate workflows, support decisions and automate operational processes — enabling faster, more efficient fleet operations.

No Agentic AI without the right data foundation

One of the key messages from the stage was also one of the most fundamental:

Before companies can scale Agentic AI, they need to get their data foundation right.

Diconium highlighted four prerequisites in particular:

Data Governance. Data Quality. System Integration. Data Ownership.

Only with these foundations in place can companies build the next layer: AI governance, agent orchestration, new capabilities and new operating models.

In other words:

The move toward Agentic AI is not just about implementing another AI tool.

It is also about how companies organize their data, systems, responsibilities and processes.

Research meets prototype

That combination made the Diconium session especially relevant for the IAA.prototype.club Stage.

The discussion was not only about what might happen in a few years.

Diconium combined:

market data,
a clear strategic perspective,
and a working prototype.

Exactly the kind of conversation we want to create at IAA.prototype.club: bringing companies, technologies and concrete applications together and making future developments tangible.
